Survive the Outbreak
World War Z: Survival Adventure is an immersive "living literature" program inspired by Max Brooks' bestselling novel. Participants don't just read about survival—they live it. Working together as a team of survivors, kids navigate a zombie outbreak scenario where every decision matters and teamwork is the key to survival.
This isn't your typical zombie game. Our carefully designed program uses the thrilling zombie survival theme to teach real-world skills: critical thinking, resource management, STEM concepts, and collaborative problem-solving. Kids are so engaged in surviving the "outbreak" that they don't even realize they're learning.
Whether you're a library looking for your next big program, a school seeking engaging STEM enrichment, or a youth organization wanting a unique team-building experience, World War Z: Survival Adventure delivers unforgettable adventure with meaningful educational outcomes.
Survivor Classes
When the outbreak hits, every survivor brings unique skills to the team. Participants choose from different survivor classes, each with special abilities:
The Medic — Skilled in first aid and triage, Medics keep the team healthy and can identify symptoms of infection. They excel at science-based challenges and resource conservation.
The Scout — Fast, observant, and great at reconnaissance. Scouts are the team's eyes and ears, excelling at perception challenges and navigation puzzles.
The Engineer — Problem-solvers who can build, repair, and improvise. Engineers shine in STEM challenges involving construction, mechanics, and logical thinking.
The Leader — Natural commanders who coordinate team efforts and make tough calls. Leaders excel at communication challenges and strategic planning.
The Scavenger — Resourceful survivors who can find supplies anywhere. Scavengers are masters of inventory management and creative problem-solving.
Each class contributes differently to the team's survival, teaching kids that diverse skills and perspectives make groups stronger.
How It Works
A World War Z session begins with participants learning about the outbreak scenario and choosing their survivor class. Teams receive their mission briefing and must work together to navigate a series of challenges.
Survival Challenges test different skills: - STEM Puzzles — Calculate supply ratios, decode messages, solve logic problems - Physical Tasks — Navigate obstacle courses, complete timed missions - Team Coordination — Communicate through barriers, make group decisions - Resource Management — Allocate limited supplies, prioritize objectives - Literacy Activities — Decode documents, interpret survivor journals, follow written instructions
Throughout the adventure, facilitators guide the narrative, introducing plot twists, new challenges, and consequences for decisions. The story adapts based on how teams perform, creating a unique experience every time.
Educational Integration
World War Z: Survival Adventure sneaks in serious learning through engaging gameplay:
STEM Skills - Math: Calculating supplies, rationing resources, probability of survival - Science: Understanding disease transmission, basic first aid concepts - Engineering: Building barriers, solving mechanical puzzles - Logic: Pattern recognition, deductive reasoning, strategic planning
Literacy & Language Arts - Reading comprehension through in-game documents and clues - Vocabulary building with zombie-themed word activities - Narrative writing through survivor journal entries - Following complex written instructions
